About the Webinar

“If you can not measure it, you can not improve it” is a quote attributed to the famous British physicist Lord Kelvin (1824-1907).  This quote remains relevant today when dealing with claims substantiation techniques for hair care.  In order to make new or stronger claims, you always need better measurement techniques.

This presentation will describe the four main types of claim substantiation tests used in hair: (1) sensory tests, (2) tress tests, (3) single fibre tests and (4) tests for investigating the chemical composition of the hair.  It will then review several exciting new developments in this area made at TRI, including new assays for hair porosity, hair breakage and hair lipid composition, and new test methods developed for use on very curly, textured hair.
