What You Will Learn In The Webinar
Turn & Talk
Get your students TALKING about the story.
Use Graphic Organizers (included in the resources)
These can include filling in a story map or identifying character traits with text evidence as we read. Also after we read we might identify the main idea or problems and solutions.
How to Utilize Writing/Drawing
Writing in response to the text is a big focus which will meet the standards of writing, drawing & dictating. Some students will write, some will draw and some will come to the small group table and tell us about the story.
Grammar
This skill is closely related to the story and allows for the whole group, explicit intruction of the skill and independent practice.
Graphing
All Read It Up!™ resources include a voting activity which is graphed. Then, they will share their vote and give reasons or details. This helps with persuasive writing and higher-order thinking skills. .
STEM
Most Read It Up!™ resources include a science activity to help bring the story to life. Students can complete the STEM challenges along or with a partner. They talk, discuss, & strategize. They solve problems & buils language. Then, they write & draw about the challenge.
