What You Will Learn In The Webinar

Canada is one of the most demanding countries for trucks. Long distances, remote places, very cold winters with -40°C and a maximum allowed weight of 140,000 lbs (64 tons) are daily business for them.

For truck manufacturers this means: “If you make it there – you’ll make it anywhere.”
However, for obvious reasons, most logistics companies don’t want to be the guinea pigs of the truck manufacturers and find out in the middle of nowhere that a specific component fails at -50°C.

The Alberta Motor Transportation Association, a not-for-profit association of the commercial transportation industry, offered its members an opportunity to join a hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle demonstration program. This first of its kind project in Canada helps logistics companies to achieve zero emissions by adopting new technologies. More than 70 carriers have signed up to test the vehicles.

Brands that are tested include:

• Hyzon Motors
• Nikola
• Hydra Energy (dual fuel conversion technology that runs on hydrogen and diesel)

The infrastructure is operated by Suncor Energy, including hydrogen production, conditioning, distribution and dispensing. The refueling station equipment was provided by HTEC, a leading refueling station manufacturer from Vancouver, BC.

Our speaker is Jamie King, Research&Innovation Manager at AMTA. Jamie has 20+ years of experience in Project Management, Business Development and Innovation, and she’s one of the project managers who gets direct feedback from the customers.

In the webinar, Jamie will explain the setup of the project, share the (intermediate) results and try to give an outlook on zero emission commercial transportation in Alberta and Canada.
