One of the key parameters of electrolyzers is the cell voltage. However, if one single cell does not perform as desired – e.g. due to degradation, production tolerance, or defects – the whole stack performance is reduced. If this “bad” cell is identified, the performance can be adjusted, and if necessary, the limiting cell can be repaired.

However, to get the necessary information in real time, a Single Cell Condition Monitoring System is required. This system helps to optimize the overall efficiency – and therefore the business case of hydrogen production.
