What You Will Learn In The Webinar
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) recently published a fascinating report providing valuable insights into electrolyzers. The report includes a comprehensive cost study examining both hardware expenses and hydrogen production costs. One particularly intriguing chart displays the relationship between the "Fraction of the total cost" and the "Potential for cost reduction." In the top right corner of the chart, there is a solitary dot labeled "Power Supply."
In simpler terms, the report highlights that power supplies for electrolyzers are currently quite expensive. However, there is great potential for cost reduction, which would not only make electrolyzers more affordable but also likely enhance their efficiency.
Presently, the standard power supply for electrolyzers is connected to the grid at 400 V AC. However, due to the dynamic nature of electrolyzer operation and their status as non-linear loads, their use can potentially cause distortions in the grid. These distortions must adhere to the grid connection guidelines set by utility companies, making the situation rather complex.
Drawing on his impressive 34-year tenure as a specialist in medium voltage and low voltage systems at Siemens, Christian Beer will delve into these topics in our upcoming webinar. During the webinar, Christian Beer will provide insights into:
This webinar promises to be an invaluable resource for anyone interested in electrolyzer technology and its integration into existing power systems.
