Ammonia as an energy carrier for the energy transition

The importance of ammonia in the changing energy landscape focused on decarbonization.
The ramp-up of #hydrogen is gaining pace worldwide and is moving into the focus of politics, business and society. Ammonia currently plays a potentially important role as an energy source, in the development of global H2 supply chains and in the decarbonization of the global energy system. The World Energy Council - Germany published a new study on ammonia as an energy source. In this webinar we also discuss the roadmap for decarbonizing existing infrastructure and development of hydrogen and ammonia direct firing in Mitsubishi Gas Turbines for power generation application.

Maira Kusch is Head of Office at the World Energy Council – Germany (Weltenergierat – Deutschland e.V.) in Berlin. Before joining the WEC network, she worked as Senior Consultant for energy, environment and mobility at the EPA European Berlin Brüssel Political Affairs GmbH, a strategic consultancy based in Berlin, and as Policy Advisor for Matthias Groote, MEP in the Committee on the Environment of the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg. Maira is co-author of the book “Flüssiggas und BioLPG in der Energiewende” (“The Role of Liquefied Petroleum Gas and BioLPG in the Energy Transition”), published at VDE VERLAG, Berlin in 2020.

Dr. Thomas Kattenstein, a doctor of mechanical engineering specializing in energy technology, is managing consultant and project manager at EE ENERGY ENGINEERS GmbH and heads the Competence Center Hydrogen. With many years of experience (+20 years) in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells, he headed the fuel cell and hydrogen, electromobility area at EnergyAgency.NRW for over 10 years.He is responsible for projects for the development and market launch of hydrogen applications. Dr. Thomas Kattenstein is involved in various national and international initiatives and writes studies and concepts, specialist articles and lectures on these topics.
