Safety risk mitigation strategies for hydrogen applications

With hydrogen entering more and more applications in both the worlds of industry and mobility, the identification and mitigation of safety risks becomes a crucial task for manufacturers and operators.
The webinar gives an overview of general obligations when developing hydrogen components, systems and plants. 
Derived from the initial risk analysis, the webinar gives insights on functional safety, material compatibility, and components and systems qualification. It also provides support for a successful market access, be it through product certification, type approval or conformity evaluation.

Dr. Thomas Gallinger has over 10 years of experience working in the testing, inspection, and certification field as a third party for the energy industry. Thomas is leading a team of safety engineers working on national and international hydrogen projects. The emphasis is on type approval and certification of components and systems for manufacturers of hydrogen technology and safety concepts for mobile and stationary hydrogen systems. Also, safety trainings for manufacturer and operator staff is an important part.

Martin Sekura joined TÜV SÜD in the beginning of 2021 as the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Business Development Manager. He is responsible for the TÜV SÜD hydrogen testing laboratory expansion strategy and corresponding new product certification services. Before joining TÜV SÜD, he assumed responsibilities in various roles at TesTneT Engineering, a former start-up hydrogen testing lab. Martin is representing TÜV SÜD in various international hydrogen-related groups and committees and is hosting the “Hydrogen Bar” podcast with weekly episodes.
