Hydrogen for Mobility
Free Webinar
March 15, 2023 - 10 am in Berlin, 4 am in New York, 5 pm in Beijing
Our future zero-emission mobility needs vast amounts of Renewable Energy (RE). While a good percentage of our mobility could be covered with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), BEV will have some limitations regarding energy availability at the right time and right place. Also, some customers will request higher driving distances and short fueling times. Thus, a certain amount of our future vehicles will use renewable fuels such as hydrogen or so called synthetic fuels for their powertrains. These fuels can be generated world-wide in regions which are best suited for RE and then transported to the regions of use.
With more than 1,400 employees, Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems is one of the leading research institutes for renewable energy and hydrogen. Ulf Groos is heading the department Fuel Cell Systems. He is leading a team of over 24 engineers and scientists as well as around 10 students.
In this webinar, Ulf will present their latest studies regarding costs and ecological footprints of fuel cell or ICE powertrains with synthetic fuels and compare them to Battery Electric Vehicles.
