The Dark Side of Being Social – how overly friendly dogs can become reactive
We all love having a friendly, social dog that likes other dogs, but there’s another less discussed side effect. Social dogs rush in to meet every other dog, making their behavior seem rude and threatening. They often ignore other dogs’ warning signs and blunder into conflicts. They are frustrated when they can’t meet every dog they see, leading to displaced aggression or outright reactivity. Watching our friendly dogs become reactive is both confusing and upsetting. However, our speaker is here to explain how to prevent it from happening.
