This 2 day in-person training course has 16 hours of training (14.5 hours is IADLEST certified training curriculum). During the class, you will learn through a combination of lecture, videos and the use of the VirTra V-300 training simulator.
Special Populations: Autism - 2 Hours
This Special Populations course focuses on how first responders should interact with children that have Autism. This curriculum has been produced in partnership with the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC), who specializes in working with people with Autism.
During this course, you will learn what Autism is, how to recognize it and the following:
Signs of Stimming
Learn what stimming is and how to avoid misinterpreting it as something else.
Challenges to Law Enforcement
Issues specific to interacting with people with Autism. This includes working around repetitive behaviors, a tendancy to flee (bolters/runners) and possibly giving resistance to direction or control.
Tools
Helping you succeed in your contact by giving you tips on how to interact, assistive communication techniques and how to handle an arrest.
Red Dot Optic Training - 4 Hours
The Red Dot Optic Training and Sustainment course familiarizes ocers with the
foundations of a pistol-mounted Red Dot Optic. This is accomplished through the
course’s pre-test, lecture materials, post-test and range drills. There are a total of 21
in-depth range drills with training instructions, which rounds-out an ocer’s training.
This course was written in conjunction with Matt Jacques from Victory First® and in
collaboration with Aimpoint®. Their expertise make the course the best optics training on the market. Best of all, this course has been nationally-certified through IADLEST,
providing departments with 4 hours of NCP curriculum.
Behavior Threat Analysis - 7 Hours
VirTra's Behavior Threat Analysis course is designed to help officers correctly perceive human behavior.
You'll experience a combination of adult learning modules and simulation training to put what you learn in to practice in a realistic enviornment.
During this course, you will learn how to accurately evaluate behavior, avoid making bad decisions and train to a higher cognitive decision making process.
Training will occure using drills designed to help identify threat cues and perfecting those skills to quickly respond to deadly behavior.
My Story: Dinkheller - 1.5 Hours
In this “My Story…”, we will examine the Deputy Kyle Dinkheller shooting. The goal of this course is to examine the details surrounding the shooting and what may have lead up to Deputy Dinkheller being murdered, and how officers can use this to train even better. We will also cover how these types of events impact families of officers and how to prepare for the worst. “My Story…” will interview people related to this incident, as well as examine the dashcam footage of the murder, and other events that may have contributed to this horrible shooting.
The story is told via archival footage, interviews and re-creations.
Technical Review
We will discuss what did and didn't work for Kyle, as well as the "why" behind those answers.
Recreation of Incident
Possibly the most complete and accurate re-created of the incident will be presented. Using the original dashcam footage, as well as interviewing Kyle's father, you'll see the incident from multiple angles.
Vehicle Contacts
Appropriate vehicle contact techniques will be presented. Through tactical training videos and a fully immersive simulated version of the incident, you'll see how to suvive attacks like this.
