Creating Safe Spaces for Connections and Uncomfortable Conversations
This Two-Part Workshop discusses how students need to read, think, converse, and write about difficult and uncomfortable topics. This is especially important for minorities, members of the LGBTQIA community, and other marginalized groups. This workshop will provide you with tools to have uncomfortable conversations with students and staff. You will develop tools/skills to provide safe spaces where you provide a break from judgment, unsolicited opinions, and having to explain yourself and allow people to feel supported and respected. This workshop will offer you a useful starting point to change mindsets and outcomes that lead to student success.
