About This PD Webinar
The philosophy of Restorative Practice views relationships and people as the most important aspect of schools and communities. Schools embracing this philosophy prioritise building positive relationships, developing social-emotional capabilities, wellbeing for all, creating supportive learning environments, and establishing fair, democratic systems across their community. Importantly, when conflict arises in relationships, restorative practices provide a way to address the issues in a dignified and respectful manner, enabling the development of life-long skills.
This webinar presents the foundations of restorative practice with a strong focus on neuro-scientific and psychological concepts. We explore how the brain is involved in relationships and conflict and provide teachers with evidence-based restorative tools and strategies for building, maintaining and repairing relationships in the classroom. Teachers are supported to reflect on how their self-awareness capability and self-regulation strategies provide a safe and calm classroom environment. Finally, teachers are equipped with communication frameworks for addressing conflict and unexpected behaviours that can be readily applied with students of all ages and developmental stages.
