At Minneapolis Integrative Medicine, we see many patients who want whole-body care that incorporates both in-depth conventional testing and an analysis of how lifestyle modifications can impact their health. This informs our definition of true integrative medicine: A beautiful blend of conventional and holistic principles that treat the root cause, examine the whole person, and apply the concept of docere (doctor as teacher).
With that in mind, we’re launching a NEW Partners in Medicine Grand Rounds, available to any practitioner who holds a medical license and works in the conventional medical system. With this free monthly meeting, we hope to broaden the conversation around integrative medicine, inspire our colleagues (YOU) to deepen your knowledge to support your patients, and help change the way integrative medicine is perceived in the conventional system—with the ultimate goal of better all-around patient care.

Partners in Medicine: Grand Rounds

By putting on these Grand Rounds, MIMC’s providers hope to:

  • Create a safe space to ask questions about integrative medicine and create a culture of inclusivity. We’re all on the same team—we may just play different roles!

  • Encourage a widening of your differential diagnosis toolbox to help support patients who may have unfamiliar or peculiar symptom presentations.
  • Provide concrete education related to natural therapeutics like theoretical vs. actual clinical adverse effects and medication interactions.
  • Offer a diagnostic process of next steps you can provide patients (advanced testing, referral suggestions, patient questionnaires, lifestyle modifications, and more) whose symptoms don’t fit neatly into a usual diagnosis.
  • Demonstrate integrative medicine protocol that more effectively recognizes, validates, and engages patients with complicated, unconventional symptoms.
  • Open a constructive dialogue that ultimately puts patient care first.
