Hydrogen and nitrogen as inexhaustible and cost efficient alternative to helium carrier gas in GCMS analysis
Door: Xaver Mönnighoff
Helium is the most frequently used carrier gas in GCMS analysis, as its inertness allows high sensitivity analysis combined with good chromatographic separation. Due to Helium shortage, prices have significantly increased over last 5 years and are expected to further increase. Therefore, alternative carrier gases like hydrogen or nitrogen become more attractive, as they are inexhaustible and stable in price.
Our webinar will deal with security aspects linked to the use of hydrogen as carrier gas, discuss the advantages and limitations of hydrogen and nitrogen, and compare the performance vs helium in different applications.
