Health issues across the globe is a common perspective. Various traditional healers and practitioner perform treatments based on diverse principles and follow different practices aiming towards a common goal of curing ailments to maintain a healthy livelihood among communities and in turn to society. This traditional knowledge exploration is a part of the cultural tradition of each community to establish a systematic approach based on traditional practices through use of natural resources. Besides healthcare development in the modern age, the communities prefer sharing their intellects on traditional practices and experiences which includes source of ailments and its remedies leading towards usable methods to maintain healthy livelihood. 

​​​​​​​The ethnic communities have always generated, refined and passed on traditional knowledge from generation to generation. This knowledge is based on their needs, instinct, observation, trial and error and long experience. Such knowledge is often an important part of their cultural identities. Traditional knowledge has played, and still plays, a vital role in the daily lives of these people. The therapeutic activity of such plants has made an outstanding contribution in the origin and evolution of many traditional herbal therapies. The webinar series of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) on Traditional Medicines in Therapy is an attempt to highlight and spread the knowledge of traditional practices and its applications in the region.
