Ideas are everywhere, and they always need development. But still, not all ideas have what it takes to sustain a long work of fiction? Some are better suited to short stories, or perhaps ought to be discarded completely. So how do we know which ones will go the distance? 

In this session bestselling novelist S J Watson will discuss how to spot and retain ideas, but more importantly how to recognise which of your ideas might have staying power. And for those in the middle of a project who feel things drifting, we’ll also talk about how to recognise whether you need to go right back to your original plan, as well as considering some strategies to get you back on track.
