In World War Two, crossing Europe’s great mountain ranges, traversing vast forests, and within ancient cities, were a series of secret trails. These were the routes used by resistance fighters, downed airmen, SOE agents, and escaping PoW’s to make their way back home to safety. These legendary paths became known as the Freedom Trails. They still exist today.
Join Monty, follow not only the routes themselves, crossing the Pyrenees, the Dolomites, and the genuine wilderness of Slovenia, but also meet the great characters involved in these escapes. Every trail follows a heroic escape bid, a selfless act of co-operation by local people, and the romances and lifelong friendships that ensued.
Best Wishes, Monty
