Ask An Agent Anything with 3 Top Literary Agents:
Mushens Entertainment, Nurnberg and Underlit

About the Webinar

Agents are often the key to getting the best deal for you and your work. But getting an agent is rarely straightforward. Join literary agents Liza DeBlock (Mushens Entertainment), Jenny Savill (Nurnberg) and Robbie Guillory (Underlit) for a panel event where you'll have the oppurtunity to ask them anuthing. Questions will be answered on a first-come-first-served basis, so have yours ready to go post in the chat box!

Liza is the Foreign Rights Executive at Mushens Entertainment and works to promote and sell the agency’s books internationally. She started in publishing at the literary scouting agency, Eccles Fisher Associates before moving to work as an assistant to Juliet Mushens, working alongside her as she developed multiple Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling authors. In 2022 Liza was chosen as one of The Bookseller’s Rising Stars in the publishing industry. Liza also works with Black Girl Writers, and Jericho Writers, assessing submissions and mentoring authors, and has started developing her own list of authors including Natalie Chandler, Pim Wangtechawat, and Stacey Thomas.

Robbie is agent at Underline Literary Agency. Originally from the beautiful North Norfolk coast in England, he now lives in Glasgow, Scotland. Before becoming a literary agent in 2019, he spent nearly a decade working for a number of Scottish publishers including Saraband, 404 Ink and HarperCollins. He is currently looking for commercial fiction across genres, from science fiction and fantasy to crime and historical romance. As long as it has a great hook and well-realised characters he's interested!

Jenny left St Andrews university in 1987 with an MA in Mediaeval History, then worked as an actress, eventually running her own theatre company.  She is a publishing late bloomer, having started at Andrew Nurnberg Associates as PA to the Managing Director in 2002 when her children were young.  Fast forward 20 years and she is now the Managing Director of the agency, the two specialisms of which – primary agenting and translation rights, make it uniquely placed for the successful representation of authors and publishing clients, worldwide. Jenny began by building a children’s list, then followed her nose into adult representation, meeting Natasha Pulley after a talk at UEA and selling The Watchmaker of Filigree Street to Bloomsbury where it soon became an international bestseller. Amongst the authors she represents are the queen of Gothic horror, Catriona Ward, dark and comedic writer, C J Skuse, historical novelist Neema Shah and bestselling graphic novelist Fred Fordham.  Always on the lookout for new writers, and with a particular interest in literary fiction, literary-commercial women’s fiction, genre-busting psychological suspense, gothic thrillers, horror, ghost stories, historical fiction and sci fi, she looks for originality, depth, and the ability to move and surprise. She is especially interested to hear from under-represented voices. She is a collaborative, editorial agent who loves to meet with writers and to discuss their work, giving feedback and help where she can.
