About The Webinar

On the 1st March 2024, the King's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer (KLTR) launched a new initiative for managing ownerless property referred to as "bona vacantia" in Scotland. The initiative is aimed at providing a mechanism by which communities can acquire land and buildings which have been left abandoned or neglected so that they can be brought back into use for the benefit of the local community.

In this webinar, we will provide an overview of the new OPTS process including:

  • Notification to KLTR of ownerless property

  • The application process for Local Authorities and community bodies

  • Costs, requirements and limitations of the scheme

  • Opportunities for empty homes
