What's So Great About Accomplishment Based Coaching?
Most current-day coaching programs and processes focus on the behavior of the person being coached, or on whatever the coachee wants to discuss.
Following the "original" definition of coaching in athletics, the Performance Thinking® Coach process is aimed at enabling coachees to produce the valuable contributions expected from their role or job function. This is more akin to getting the ball through the uprights in American football, a home run in baseball, a goal in basketball, and so on. In the workplace such accomplishments might be advances in a sales process, decisions, improved relationships, widgets, or documents.
This session will be a vigorous dialog between Carl and Ian, and hopefully including comments and questions from those in attendance at the webinar. Topics will include:
Setting valuable goals in the coaching process
We target valuable accomplishments or work outputs that the person needs to improve, to add to their capabilities for upcoming projects or a career path step, or for personal reasons.
Defining what "good" looks like - to set clear expectations
We all need to know what is expected, and defining "good" instances of an accomplishment is a great starting-place in the coaching process.
How we use the Six Boxes® Model as a framework for action steps
This simple model provides a perfect framework for coach and coachee to agree on action steps for improving performance.
