Introduction to Agile for Instructional Designers (LLAMA)

On time. In budget. What they need (even if that changes!). These are moving targets and yet, you’re expected to deliver all three. Agile methods dominate the software development space, in large part because:
• Agile methods improve the ability to meet schedule deadlines
• Agile quality is better than traditional norms
• Agile methods continue to provide users with a competitive advantage
 
It’s no wonder that other organizational functions are beginning to eye Agile methods as an attractive option for project management, decision making and prioritization. Agile provides a framework for adapting to change as it happens and working with the project sponsor to deliver the content most needed by learners.

While elearning teams can benefit greatly from adopting Agile, this workshop addresses specific adaptations to Agile methods proven to be effective for instructional designers and developers.

About LLAMA™: Recognizing that software development and instructional design have different needs and outcomes, Megan Torrance developed the LLAMA™ methodology. Her approach adapts the common phases of ADDIE to incorporate the incremental, iterative nature of Agile projects. It allows learners to test and evaluate which features or design functions work before they’re finalized. It also offers a way to accommodate inevitable mid-project modifications pushed by stakeholders, subject matter experts, or organizational leaders.
