Finance Isle of Man, an Executive Agency of the Isle of Man Government's Department for Enterprise, is hosting this free webinar exploring why the Isle of Man is the jurisdiction of choice for wealth management for South African individuals and businesses. The webinar will discuss tax clearance and foreign exchange issues in an international investment environment, and why businesses should be comfortable with placing wealth on the Isle of Man. Additionally, you will gain a comprehensive economic overview of the world in the current climate. The Finance Agency will be joined by several industry members, specialising in the South African marketplace.

  • John Hunter, Head of Banking and Fiduciaries, Finance Isle of Man

    As Head of Banking and Fiduciaries for Finance Isle of Man, John works closely with the financial and professional services sectors across the Island. John has over 35 years' financial services experience, which has included senior management roles with several major banks, working across a wide spectrum of sectors, including Private Client and Fiduciary. During his banking career John set up a successful High Net Worth private client business for a major bank in Knightsbridge, developed a private banking business in the west country, and developed a significant Private Equity desk for an offshore bank.

  • Antony Kelsey, Group Commercial Director, Capital International

    Antony joined in the Capital International Group in 2010 tasked with re-energising the business development team. He has worked in offshore financial services for over 20 years and a key member of the management team developing the Group’s proposition and offices in South Africa. Prior to joining Capital, Antony worked for a major life assurance company where he drove the development of a new range of inheritance tax products and raised over £100m from UK IFAs and their clients. He is a Member of the Personal Finance Society, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds the Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors.

  • Rachel Lee, IPB Head IOM Distribution, Standard Bank Isle of Man

    Rachel began her banking career in 1989 in Birmingham, UK where after a number of years she took an opportunity to take a 3 year secondment to the Isle of Man. Fast forward more than 25 years later she remains there and has firmly made the Isle of Man her long term home and family base. Her Isle of Man career has seen her travelling the globe extensively in order to meet and understand the needs of clients and intermediaries, and this eventually lead to her joining Standard Bank in 2012 as a Business Development Manager to assist them in establishing a new line of distribution. She now heads up the Isle of Man’s International Personal Banking Distribution team which looks after both direct applicants and intermediaries worldwide, her team are located in the Isle of Man and various African countries.

  • Andrew Halsall, Head of Private Banking, Nedbank Private Wealth

    Andrew heads up the Isle of Man private banking team. He joined the bank in 2005 and has over 30 years’ banking experience. He looks after a portfolio of domestic and internationally-based clients, working closely with them, and their professional advisers, to meet their wealth management, succession planning, pension and lending needs. Andrew is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

  • Steven Barrow, Head G10 Strategy, Standard Bank

    Steve Barrow has worked as a currency and fixed income strategist in the financial markets for the past 35 years. For much of this time he has worked as the head of currency strategy at Chemical Bank/Chase Manhattan Bank (1986-1996) and, more recently, at Bear Stearns (1997-2008) where he was Chief Global Currency Strategist. Steve has been at Standard Bank since 2008 and he has the title ‘Head of G10 Strategy’ although he has extensive knowledge of emerging markets as well, taking a ‘top-down’ view of the global economy and global markets. He was recently ranked third in the provision of international economic research in South Africa’s financial mail survey.
