"UV Radiation & Sun Protection" - the South African Society's certificate class
About the Webinar
For over 20 years the South African Society of Cosmetic Chemists (COSCHEM) has offered a 2-year certificate course in cosmetic science. Intended as an introduction to our industry, this certificate has been essential to entry-level chemists in South African.
The IFSCC is proud to offer the actual course material used in this successful certificate program. Written and updated by long-time COSCHEM Member, Roy Gardiner, this is the first of Roy's many course modules we will share over several years.
For information on the South African Society's 2 year course (available remotely), visit their website at www.coschem.co.za.
After this webinar you should be able to:
Understand UV radiation and the affect it has on the skin.
Understand the intrinsic protective mechanisms of the skin and how ultra violet radiation can penetrate the body to cause harm.
Know that your skin type determines the sun protection your skin requires as well as some of the difficulties that may occur during formulating with the different UV filters.
Be aware of alternatives to sun tanning and after-sun treatments.
Our sincere thanks to Roy and COSCHEM for allowing the IFSCC to share this wealth of knowledge with our global Members.
