Almost no Black-owned publicly traded companies
Out of over 6,000 public companies based in the U.S., less than 15 are Black-owned or 0.1%.
More minority-owned companies in public markets equals more jobs
Public capital markets have been a tool used to create more wealth, prosperity, innovation, and success than any other financial mechanism in history. So much so, in fact, that a study done by the U.S. Treasury Department's Task Force on IPOs found that 92% of job growth within a company occurs after that company goes public.
Creating more public companies that are operated by Minority individuals will create a much more hopeful economic future for not only the Black community, but people everywhere.
Big question
So, the question remains, how do we increase participation and expand access to public capital markets for people of color? The Dream Exchange has set out to do exactly that.
