About Kate Klassen Kate Klassen is a commercial pilot and flight instructor on both airplanes and remotely piloted aircraft. A transplant to British Columbia from the east coast of Canada, Kate works in the drone education space providing training and consulting services to pilots and is based in Vancouver. She has been involved in the aviation space for the last 15 years and holds a Management of Technology MBA from Simon Fraser University. In addition to serving as a BC/YK director for COPA, she is a director with Unmanned Systems Canada – Systèmes Télécommandés Canada. She has been called upon regularly to consult on training-adjacent initiatives for public, industry and government-led groups such as the RPAS revisions for the Aeronautical Information Manual, Knowledge Requirements document, examination development and as co-chair of Transport Canada’s CanaDAC.
About Anne-Sophie Riopel-Bouvier Anne-Sophie Riopel-Bouvier is a co-founder at EXO Tactik Air Support, a Montreal-based RPAS operation company specializing in municipal and public safety operations. Anne-Sophie draws on her years of experience as a Canadian Forces glider instructor to lead the organization’s air operations. Graduating from the RCAF’s flight safety course in 2012, she has been a flight safety officer with the air cadet gliding program since then. She also obtained a master’s degree in urban intelligence from Université Laval. Anne-Sophie currently leads the Flight Safety Action Team, an Unmanned Systems Canada — Systèmes Télécommandés Canada initiative currently focusing on developing a voluntary and anonymous reporting tool to enable RPAS operators to share flight safety related experiences.
About Yifei Zhao Yifei Zhao moved into the drone industry with over 7 years of film production experience. As one of the first 3 teams to start the drone department in IATSE 667, the Canadian Film Union, Yifei's experience and skills were recognized by Humber College to build the first Transport Canada compliant drone course with a Canadian college. Over the years Yifei has participated in many industry organizations to help advance the Canadian drone industry. She led the vision for AlteX Academy to build a modern and professional drone program.
