Bitcoin is software driven and does not need a controlling central authority making it censorship resistant and incorruptible. In the last 15 years Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have grown to be a formidable asset class that has achieved mainstream adoption. This naturally resulted in crypto coming under the scrutiny of regulatory bodies across the world.
