HumanOPs - The power and impact of effective communication
24 June 2024
An IITPSA & Developer User Group Webinar
The quality of interactions within a team directly impacts the quality of its output. Misunderstandings can hinder progress and create friction, while clear and effective communication fosters collaboration and success. Reflect on your own experiences—how often have you felt misunderstood by your team or struggled to comprehend what others were trying to convey?
In this talk, Joanne Perold will unpack communication styles and interaction models that are particularly relevant in professional settings. I will share a model for how communication happens, how to think about your own styles and how to improve, all with the aim of enhancing your team's communication and leadership skills. I am excited to share my insights on effective communication with you.

Joanne Perold
With a career spanning two decades, Joanne has worked in diverse positions and industries, including product development, coaching, business intelligence, and executive leadership. In 2008, she discovered the world of Agile and a different approach to product development and getting work done. In 2012, Joanne discovered an amazing peer group of leaders and coaches who helped her to grow and hone her leadership skills. She has deep knowledge and experience from both a theory and a practical perspective in agile methods, leadership development and process improvement, and takes a pragmatic yet critical-thinking approach to coaching. Joanne has worked with teams and organisations to transform and improve their work, using Scrum, Kanban, Flight Levels and other methods. She invests time learning about leadership and coaching models and applying them with the product teams, leadership teams, and individuals I work with. Her curiosity keeps her constantly learning and growing. These different perspectives give Joanne a deeper toolbox to dig into. Joanne is passionate about creating spaces that enable others to reflect and grow, learning from their own experiences. Her superpowers lie in coaching, product development, strategic thinking and human interactions. She brings a human element that creates safety and buy-in. Outside of work, Joanne value giving back and growing communities in South Africa and globally. She regularly volunteer my time and expertise as a mentor, coach, and trainer at local universities and user groups.
