Diversity and Race at Queen's University Belfast
A history of African Students and staff since 1942

Abstract

This webinar explores the diversity that has existed historically among students and staff at Queen’s university. Focusing on Africans specifically (and on scholars working in or on Africa, if time permits), it charts the history of their presence, their numbers, experience, and impact since the first African student arrived at  Queen’s in 1942. Such history not only uncovers a “neglected history” and a unwritten facet of University, but it should help us think and put into perspective today’s experiences and discussions about diversity and race.
