Human error in railway accidents, and the integration of human factors into railway operations.
Human error is commonly said to be the cause of many accidents that occur within the railway industry. But what is human error? What are the causes of human error? Are railway systems designed or engineered to make humans more likely to commit errors that lead to accidents? Can human error be regarded as negligence when accidents occur?
The next two webinars in this series by Smart Ergonomics (scheduled for 29 October & 26 November 2020) will tackle these questions. We will also provide insights into how human factors requirements can be integrated into railway safety management systems, while considering the legal and regulatory requirements for managing human factors/ergonomics.
