LPDs and LRDA
The Patterns for High-Risk Seizures
Lateralized Periodic Discharges (LPDs) and Lateralized Rhythmic Delta (LRDA) are seen in critically ill patients in ICU with altered mental status. LPDs are seen in patients with brain tumors and abscesses, subdural hematoma, parasitic infections and HSV. LRDA is commonly seen in patients with infectious and autoimmune encephalitis. Both these patterns translate to high risk for seizures, especially nonconvulsive. They can be presented as interictal, ictal or ictal-interictal continuum. Patients with both the patterns have the highest risks of acute seizures.
This Webinar will review the similarities and differences of these EEG patterns and their clinical signifigance
