    She is currently a Senior Research Associate, University of Johannesburg and is the Director: Education Change at the Programme to Improve ​​​​​​​Learning Outcomes (PILO) which piloted-at-scale a model for education system improvement in 1 200 schools in KZN between 2015-2017 funded by the NECT. 

  • Faranaaz Veriava
    Faranaaz is the head of the education rights programme at SECTION27. She holds a BA LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand and a LLM and a doctorate in human rights and constitutional practice from the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria.

    Nurina joined the EELC as its Executive Director on 1 August 2015. Nurina is a passionate lawyer and activist, with a vision for using legal advocacy to advance the goal of achieving equal education for all.

  • Tracey Malawana
    Tracey Malawana is a human rights activist. She is currently serving as the deputy general secretary at Equal Education. She believes that every government has a responsibility to invest in quality and equal education for its citizens.

  • Yolanda Magugu
    17-Year-Old Yolanda Magugu is a Grade 12 learner from Charlotte Maxeke Secondary School in Tembisa. She is part of Equal Education’s high school-going membership known as Equalisers.
