Into the Outdoors: Little Scientists at Work
Join Emily Webster, with special guest Annabelle Perston, at 8 pm EST on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026.
Ready, set, let’s take Science OUTSIDE.
In this 60-minute webinar, we will explore practical and engaging ways to bring science learning into outdoor spaces. This webinar focuses on how nature-based experiences can strengthen early science understanding while supporting whole-child development.
We will explore simple, developmentally appropriate strategies to guide children in observing plants, insects, soil, weather, and sunlight. We will discuss how to encourage questioning, prediction, and meaningful discussion through hands-on outdoor activities that require minimal materials and can be implemented in schoolyards, playgrounds, or nearby green spaces.
Outdoor science experiences support physical development by encouraging movement, coordination, and active exploration. They also strengthen cognitive skills as children observe patterns, compare objects, and solve problems in real-world contexts. In addition, time spent outdoors can promote emotional regulation, confidence, and collaboration. You will leave the webinar with practical tools to confidently foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning by making science visible, accessible, and engaging in the natural world.
