During this webinar you'll meet two of them: Dr. Luigi Riano of the Società Italiana di Chimica e Scienze Cosmetologiche. and Dr. Robert Lochhead of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (USA-Canada). Dr. Luigi Rigano, Fellow
Dr. Rigano has probably delivered more IFSCC Educational Programs around the world than anyone else, so many of you have met him in person. This webinar is your chance to get to know him better.
Dr. Luigi Rigano received a University Degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Milan and has worked since 1970 in several multi-national cosmetic industries (Unilever, Intercos, Givaudan, Schering), as product development manager, technical director and involved in technical assistance on raw materials. He worked in many product areas including toiletries, emulsions and make-up products, sunscreens and perfumes.
He teaches Courses in Cosmetic Sciences at Italian Universities and is the author of many scientific papers on evaluation, production and formulation applied to cosmetic ingredients and products.
He was Secretary of Scientific Affairs and Honorary Secretary of the IFSCC for several years.
Since 1986 he has run his own independent laboratory in Milan, Rigano Laboratories, concerned with the formulation of new cosmetic products, the uses of new raw materials, and production process rationalization.
He is a consultant for many national and global companies. Since 1989 he is the scientific director of ISPE, Institute of Skin and Product Evaluation, in Milan, concerned with safety, efficacy and sensorial evaluations applied to cosmetic products. Thank

Dr. Robert Lochhead, Fellow
Dr Lochhead is Professor and Director Emeritus at the School of Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was Director of that School for almost two decades. Prior to joining academia, the first twenty-five years of his career were spent in industrial research that ranged from polymer and silicone synthesis with I.C.I., to colloid and surface science with Unilever Research, and to the research and management of a hydrophilic polymers’ research group with BF Goodrich. A big part of Bob’s life has revolved arou scientists as is evident from his mentee, Janet Castaneda, who won the IFSCC Maison G, de Navarre Young Scientist Award in London in 1988, and the 18 National best paper awards won his students, and the prominent positions that his alumni hold in the Industry. Dr. Lochhead is the editor of three books, author of more than a hundred scientific papers and reviews, and a named inventor on 22 patents.
About Emanuele Piras, Interviewer.
Emanuele Piras joined the IFSCC Praesidium in 2015. He is currently finishing his six year term on the Presidential track as the Immediate Past President. He will be missed.
Emanuele is holder of the Diploma of “Perito Chimico Biologico Sanitario”, and the Diploma of Chemical Expert in water treatment. He has worked in the cosmetic industry since 1999, before that experience he worked as consultant for industrial filtration since 1991. In 2008, he joined Merck as Account Manager in the Cosmetic Business Field. Prior to this, he was for six years the Technical and Sales Manager of Biochim, one of the oldest food and cosmetic raw materials distribution companies in Italy. Emanuele has been member of SICC since 2006 and SICC Board Member since March 2013.
