Hydrogen Safety – Best Practice and Panel Discussion

Free Webinar
Feburary 22, 2023 - 10 am in Berlin, 4 am in New York, 5 pm in Beijing

Hydrogen safety is paramount for any hydrogen project or application. Leak prevention and detection remain one of the biggest challenges in design and operation of hydrogen plants. Due to the properties of hydrogen specific safety considerations have to be taken into account.

In addition, new challenges are emerging that need to be solved:

- Unmanned operation of electrolysers and filling stations.
- Plant operation by non-specialist personnel, e.g. at power plants, waste incineration plants or wind farms
- Massive cost reduction targets
- Production and use of hydrogen in containers and other confined spaces
- Use of hydrogen by end customers, e.g. at filling stations or in heating systems
- Co-location of hydrogen plants with existing infrastructure
- etc.

MSA Safety and Mission Hydrogen invite you to this webinar, where four hydrogen experts will share their practical experience, present real-life examples and discuss possible solutions in a panel discussion.

Claudio Fecarotta: Gas and Flame Detection for Hydrogen Fuelling
Claudio has 22+ years of experience in gas and flame detection. He worked with customers on various projects helping in planning layered gas and flame detection systems for the hydrogen industry. He will specify requirements for hydrogen risk mitigation with gas and fire detectors as one of the methods to prevent the accumulation of ignitable gas mixtures for fuelling applications.

Sebastian Gast: Safety Concepts for Hydrogen Plants
Sebastian Gast holds a PhD in process engineering and is responsible for P&IDs, system design, documentation and hydrogen safety at Wenger Engineering GmbH. His current projects include planning, preparation of permitting documents, and technical development and implementation of a hydrogen test center, a power-to-gas plant with filling station, and several development projects.

Alessio Silvioli: Safety Elements in Hydrogen Systems
Alessio has extensive research and development experience in both academia and industry. His activity is focused on innovation projects in the energy industry and projects aiming to decarbonise the energy supply chain, with a particular focus on hydrogen technologies. The presentation from Alessio will identify some safety elements related to the hydrogen systems and the main requirements for handling and use.
