Hydrogen certification as value driver

The purpose of sustainability certification of hydrogen and derivatives is to provide reliable proof of sustainability attributes allowing achieving price premia compared to conventional fuels. In the European Union, this is driven by the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). Certification according to RED II will be done by Voluntary Schemes such as CertifHy, which already carries out pilot certifications to provide developers with increased certainty for their projects.

Matthias Altmann is highly experienced in the field of sustainability certification of hydrogen and derivatives. Since 2014, he has been one of the driving forces behind the European hydrogen certification scheme CertifHy. Furthermore, he advised companies, financing institutions and governments internationally on this topic.

Matthias holds a Diploma in Theoretical Physics, a European Diploma in Environmental Sciences as well as an MBA.
