AAPM TG-292: Electronic Brachytherapy Dosimetry

The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the general approaches being implemented for electronic brachytherapy dosimetry, as well as the details of the most recent report from AAPM TG292 published in the Journal of Medical Physics. American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Task Group 292 on electronic brachytherapy (eBt) dosimetry focuses on the interstitial, intraluminary, and intracavitary applications of eBt. With the low energy range of eBT and the different manufacturer calibration procedures, eBt dosimetry is a challenging area of medical physics dosimetry these days. The listeners of this webinar will learn the basic and advanced methods of eBT dosimetry as well as some of the cutting-edge research taking place at this time.

Wesley Culberson is an associate professor in the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is also the director of the University of Wisconsin Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory (UWADCL). He received a PhD in Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and was certified by the ABR in 2009 for therapeutic radiological physics. Wesley is the chair of AAPM Task Group 292 on Electronic Brachytherapy Dosimetry, which has been active for the last several years and has been active in several research projects for the Xoft Axxent electronic brachytherapy device. Dr. Culberson specializes in radiation detection, dosimetry, calibration, and radiation metrology.
