Introducing Soar: the College Counselor's Edge in a World Run by AI

See how a new college and career planning platform for IECs and school counselors helps you meet the challenges of a changing college counseling world

We’ve all had the conversation by now.

A student arrives, sure of something a chatbot told them, and it's wrong, or half-right, or right for someone else's kid. Families are doing their college research at 10 pm with AI that doesn't know the student and doesn't hesitate to guess. Parents are anxious about how new technologies will impact their kids’ career paths and choice of major. And economics and demographic change drive harder conversations about costs. We're all working in a different world than we were a few years ago.

Those were the challenges in my mind as I built Soar. I've been an IEC for over a decade, and my background before that was in AI and software, going back to graduate research in computer vision decades ago. That combination gave me what I needed to get this right: an AI platform that helps counselors do the core work of college counseling exceptionally well and is grounded enough to be trusted with more. And unlike other AI tools, Soar connects parents, students, and counselors in a shared workspace, so each can see what the others are doing and everyone stays in sync.

The core comes first because everything else depends on it. Soar helps students find genuine fits across 1,800+ colleges using verified, up-to-date data, understand where they realistically stand, build exceptional profiles that reflect who they are, and approach applications and draft effective, winning essays with genuine self-reflection. It works from authoritative sources rather than a chatbot's confident guessing, and it never writes a student's essay. College is the gateway, and Soar is built to do that job at a high level.

Because it's grounded enough to do that well, it can also help you meet the parts of this work that have grown: careers and where a major actually leads, scholarships and the real cost of college, and helping students build judgment they'll use long after they're admitted. No individual counselor can hold all that knowledge, and the emergence of AI means we all need to lean into our humanness. Soar helps you cover the ground, so you can provide the judgment, mentorship, and honest conversations that are the actual work and that no AI will ever do.

This is a live session, not just a canned demo. Here’s what we’ll cover, and why you should attend live:

-
Challenging real scenarios for college admissions, career planning, scholarships, and more, handled live on camera
- Your real student situations, discussed and handled
- Parent and student workflows, so you can see how your families will use it.
- Your questions

If you've wondered what it would take to use AI well in your practice, without becoming an AI expert or building tools from scratch, this session is for you.

Attend live if you can. But every registrant receives the recording, so register even if you can’t attend live.
