EEG Fundamentals: Understanding Brain Waves in Adult Population

EEG is one of the most non-invasive diagnostic tests to assess brain health. It measures the electrical activity of the brain by putting electrodes on specific areas of the scalp.

Neurons-the cells of the brain are electrogenic; these electrodes pick up the signals from group of neurons which lie beneath and around an electrode.

This signal is comprised of various frequencies (waves/sec) like delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma which have clinical significance in understanding and evaluating brain functions.

Recording and interpretation of the brain rhythms is a complex skill and requires specialized training. In this webinar, we will discuss basic technical requirements to set and obtain quality EEG recording and will go over some of the normal EEG patterns.
