cEEG in the EMU

EEG is one of the major non-invasive diagnostic procedures in the management of epilepsy. Continuous EEG offers significant benefits over routine EEG.

In Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, which is a specialized unit to monitor continuous video and EEG of patients with epilepsy. These patients admitted in EMU need an extensive evaluation of their ictal events; they are either newly diagnosed with epilepsy or have had relapsed from epilepsy surgery or getting evaluated for medication titration.

It’s crucial to record their ictal events to understand their seizure semiology and localization of seizure onset.  The patients in EMU are monitored with video for multiple days continuously.

The duration of the cEEG/vEEG is highly dependent on patients’ clinical condition and indications for monitoring. The EEG patterns, seizure semiology, and localization play a major role in prognosis and treatment of epileptic patients.

This webinar will discuss indications, procedures, and EEG patterns in EMU settings.
